Sing Me A Song by Joel F

Sing Me A Song, joys of joel poems, maya angelou quote, rhyming poems, beautiful life poems
Sing Me A Song – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

A song of agony
A song of faith

A song of love
A song of hate

Sing me a song
You’ll never go wrong

No matter what melody
To nurse the barren memory

It doesn’t really matter
As long as i can relate.

Life is Like a Boat Ride

Life is like a boat ride, joys of joel writings, reflections about life and boat rides
Life is like a boat ride – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

Life is like a boat ride. It comes in different boats and vessels.  Huge or small, in whatever shape or form.

It may come in golden moments just like that cruise on a beautiful sunset.  Memorable moments with screams and laughters just like that unforgettable banana boat ride.

Sometimes it scares you when you feel all alone in that small canoe,  in the middle of the vast ocean when storm is brewing and wave’s flashing.

There are times it gives you thrills as you reach your peak while you do that white water rafting, not alone but with a team who took risks, just like family sticking with you come hell or high water.

And no matter how big or small the boat you’re riding,  and how calm the weather is,  you still feel that bouncy bumpy moment, making you wonder why the ride is not smooth sailing when everything seems right.

Sometimes, even if you knew that it’s not a one dimensional journey when you thread on that deep unpredictable water, you still hop in because the boat is coming.

No amount of nausea inducing ride can stop you from trying the ride. Deep inside, you believe you can always adjust the sails because you are the captain.

And  if sometimes life makes you feel you’re just a passenger, you still hold on to that rail.  Clutching your bag of prayers, hoping that the captain will steer it right, believing that nothing is really hopeless.

No time to stand, wait and hope that another boat is coming.  You jump, dive in and swim with faith as your life vest and hope as your anchor.

It doesn’t really matter this time if you know how to swim.  What matters is you know how to find your way.  This time you knew that when the sea gets rough, you don’t look at the water swirling around you.  It will only make you feel worse and scare you more.

Just look at the horizon far away.  It’s the only stable thing when the ride is bumpy.  And that horizon will make you hold on because you deserve to be there.

And you will thank yourself for trying the boat ride. Because now you know the answer.

At The Airport, A Tale of A Flying Affair

At the Airport, a tale of a flying affair, poem about tryst and love affair, joys of joel poems, infidelity
At the Airport, a tale of a flying affair – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

At the airport you left your sorrow
To fly somewhere for a hopeful tomorrow.

You hand in your ticket to check in your luggage
Weigh in and get rid of your excess baggage.

Frisked and screened at the xray machine
Nothing to hide except your love that’s a sin.

You enter the gate and wait for the boarding
At the airport where no one will be watching.

As you enter the plane looking for your seat
Reminds you of the time you were hiding the cheat.

Now the crew is explaining and in detail they are showing
Where to find your life vest if the plane will be crashing.

Like a heart that is drowning, the affair that is diving
You think can be rescued if both of you started leaving.

The seatbelt you are locking, this time no one’s blocking
This is what you’ve been waiting, tomorrow he’ll be boarding.

In the middle of the flight, a speaking recurring dream
His wife is crying while your husband is calling.

Awakened by a scream, turbulence suddenly starting.
Looking at the window, lightning starts to follow.

Holding on to your prayer, to make you feel stronger
Believing in the promise, that you will still be together.

Don’t Ask Me If I Remember You

Don't Ask Me If I Remember You, a poem about love and betrayal, joys of joel rhyming poems
Don’t Ask Me If I Remember You – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

“Hello,
do you remember me?
I’m back in town.”

I hear you
on the other line
while i see
the postman
outside the window.

The postcards
you sent on time
The letters
i dared to hide

“Hey i’m back in town,
you still remember me?”

I couldn’t
dare to speak
while i stare
at the angel
in my bed

“Hey, im back in town
you still remember me?”

I put the phone down
because
i remember you
all the time.

Don’t Tell Me You Know Me

Don’t Tell Me You Know Me – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

I count the syllables
to create a haiku

I created a rhyme
to write a poetry

I write my thoughts
so you’ll remember me

You remember my words,
but not my story

You touch
but never hold my hand

You sing
but never invited me to dance

Because you say
i knew you knew
who i am

How could it be
if you never understand
my story?

The Vow , A Dietary Tale

the vow, a dietray tale, losing weight, joys of joel poems, poem about food and dieting
The Vow, A Dietary Tale – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

Lead me not into temptation
Calories and indigestion

Don’t know how
To follow my vow

And leave my kitchen tribulations.

You’ll never grow if you never change.  Not all growths i gladly welcome.

And if change is all i want,  i don’t want to grow those belly bulge and gain extra weight.

Yes, there is something constant with me every year and it happens every end of december.

My new year’s resolution has never change.  Lose weight,  start to diet and achieve that “to die for” gorgeous body.

And just like all those beautifui things that are not meant to stay,  i’ll just say goodbye to 2016 and start the year with a big bang of chocolate roll and a cup of ice cream, yes not a scoop but a full cup welcoming the new year with a sweet taste and a memorable fireworks of hope and joys to be filled.

So how do you look at the things you love and tell yourself it’s time to walk away?   Just remember this:

Making excuses is a talent,
Giving in to temptation is an art
and resisting it must be one hell of a skill.

And if you’re not that skillful,  no worries,  you’re still a talented artist.   🙂

Happy New Year and may our 2017 be filled with love and irresistible temptations we joyfully indulge in.

By the way i would like to end this year by thanking Bea for nominating me for Versatile Blogger Award.

Sleigh Bells Ring, Are You Listening

a christmas story by joys of joel, sleigh bells ring are you listening, reflections on christmas time, joys of jole poem
Sleigh Bells Ring, are You Listening – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

I see the christmas lights and hear the yuletide carols.  I remember hiding under the mistletoe. The yesteryears of waiting for santa, expecting a gift eventhough i’ve been naughty, not nice.

I opened the beautifully wrapped gifts.  In excitement i ignore the intricate wrappings. I barely acknowledge the efforts taken in covering the precious presents. Sometimes i forget to give thanks not just for the gifts but for its beautiful wrappings.

Oh, christmas is just around the corner.  A time to be jolly and sleigh rides.  But what happens when Santa’s reindeers are missing because their antlers are used for decorating?  And yes when the sleigh bells started ringing, are you really listening or just hearing?

Although i admit i don’t live in winter wonderland, it doesn’t mean i can’t feel the cold snow and its breeze. But the happy lights of yuletide lanterns and strangers’ smiling faces can make me say,  indeed it’s a beautiful happy sight.

One need  not wait for christmas day,  loving and sharing is not just for a day.  It’s all year through for someone with a giving and grateful heart.   But every year,  i don’t know why i am more kind,  when the christmas bells are starting to chime.

Pointless – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

No need to shout to prove your clout.
Respect begets respect.

No need to interject who is the best,
to slash the wrist and still insist.

Amidst the ‘holler and all the tries,
it’s always better to be polite,

than show the might of a brilliant mind,
yet cut the ties that bind your life.

Beholden

Beholden, rhyming poem about letting go, joys of joel poems, inspirational life poem
Beholden – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

Summer singing

Its lovely goodbye

still you say

don’t leave me sunshine.

Leaves are falling

turning golden,

still you think

you are beholden

To memories

of summertime

like chasing

elusive butterflies

but when winter

showcase its

magical

snowflakes

you dream

of bonfire

scented

autumn

for you

rather kiss

the breeze

of yesterday

than embrace

the beauty

of tomorrow’s

blossoms.

The Promise

The Promise, how can i get my money back, joys of joel poems, humor, rhyming poem credit loan word of honor
The Promise – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

Still here waiting
and really hoping

The promise i wish
you’ll be fulfilling

Should i wake up
or keep on dreaming

or is it just
a wishful thinking?

Your sweet talk
i still remember

that dreary night
last september

Tried to call you
but you’ve been avoiding

my calls and text
as if i’m not existing

And when i call you
please stop thinking

That i’m doing it
because i miss you

It’s almost christmas
i’ll buy my honey

the gifts he wants
so he won’t leave me

it’s now or never
so please remember

i need the money
the cash you owe me

if not i’ll send you
a lovely letter

and i will be
your forever stalker.

The Red Poncho by Joel F

why red poncho is like love, the red poncho, , joys of joel poems, rhyming poem about love
The Red Poncho – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

You knit or you weave,
whatever it is
The red poncho when i see,
reminds me of your kiss.

The magic of its fabric
The strength of its stitch
The mystery of its weave

The warmth of the yarn
that embrace me as i wear it
Somehow i knew
the red poncho is like you.

It covers me when i’m naked
though i wonder why it’s knitted
in a way that’s complicated.

Just like the memories
that you leave
the red poncho
reminds me

As you knit and weave,
that a needle is needed
to create a lingering memory.
