Then it showed me the way with flickering lights and buzzing bumble sound.  Not leaving through the main hallway but through the backdoor leading to some alleys.

My walk being halted by  pebbles in my shoes, picking up the pieces and throwing those pebbles away.  To my surprise a car slowed down, a stranger inviting me for a ride.

With gratitude i declined and noticed the damaged window shield.  How those tiny rocks so quickly cracked the stranger’s car was beyond me.

And if circumstances are seeking its revenge by slowly enticing me to ride, then surely blowing its horn is not a welcome sight.

The  irony of courtesy and ambivalence courting dangers and respect.  Now, where else would i go when i took off my shoes so there won’t be  any pebbles to halt my motion?

But  pebbles still seep into my sole now that i’m barefooted.  Damn if you do, damn if you don’t.  Life is clever and i’m not.

So i continue walking in the alleys searching for the main road.  Who cares how long it would take me.  What matters this time is i know where it will take me.

  2. Detours I find often take us over some bumpy ground, perhaps often strewn with pebbles.. Yet each pebble I have encountered has left it’s imprint.. :-), so maybe it was meant to find its way into my shoe.. 😉 :-D..

    1. Yes, Sue it stays where it’s meant to be, serving its purpose and teaching us lessons.

      Pebbles, big or small teach us something. We threw them away, often overlooked them…only notice them when it gets into our way….and sometimes pebbles cause detours, but eventually the road will always lead us back to our true self…our final home.

          1. Same here Joel.. I should be working upon a post of my own, instead I travel around WP reading others and commenting.. I have plenty I could write about.. But I also have PLENTY of work away from the Computer to keep me busy.. My garden and now I am busy knitting.. Along with playing with my Granddaughter.. So.. I often choose to repost an oldie, as I have lots of new followers who it would be new too.. 🙂

            1. Yes, and it’s always a thousand times better spending time with your granddaughter. Time flies so fast you know.

              Blogging is a part of our world but definitely should not be our only world.

  3. Reposting is something I think I should seriously consider. Am 3 years old at WP and I just saw it say 600+ posts published and I saw some drafts hmm… but from your post I see the beauty of every now and then sending out a repost…
    Now to the post, I was drawn to it because I often get them pebles in my shoes even new ones you know, and I sometimes wonder what they are trying to tell or teach me!
    Detours? maybe but then I have to first walk that other way quiet some distance before realising it may not actually be it… that it ain’t the way that’ll lead me to the last jigsaw for the puzzle of my broken dream… ah the dream of the 16 year old me has definitely been so broken am just deciding to either dream up amendments or just leave it rest altogether…
    Your posts do bring Joy Joel they do, keep up for the likes of us, blessings and have a walm weekend

Yes Marie let me share you something; You can repost an old post either by changing the date of the publsihed post (retaining the same title, all the stats will be carried over) or just like what i usually do ; i repost the old one by adding it as a new post , appending a certain word to the original title.

      For instance the original title of this post is Pebbles is My Shoes, so i still keep the same content but i add the word by Joel F (so now the new post appears as Pebbles in My Shoes by Joel F).

      The system would automatically consider this as a new post which means all the previous likes, stats, comments on the original one will not be carried over- it’s like you’re starting all over again.. it’s like a new post. I prefer it this way.
      You can choose whatever is convenient to you.

      By the way i’m not a wordpress expert, i guess you can check the WordPress Forum In Reposting Old Post in finding better ways to repost an old one.

      Well, for some people some pebbles cause them to detour but most pebbles challenge them to go ahead. Either way they never lose because for every turn and bend, lessons are learned. I agree with you though that one must never give up. One should always try the road first before taking a detour. Life is always a choice.

I enjoy walking barefoot as much as possible and what came to mind when you mention taking off the shoes to walk barefoot and still encountering annoying pebbles is, it takes discipline to train the feet to walk on pebbles (or crush rock as is so common here) so they don’t generate as much pain. Some pain is always good, as a reminder (to me) that I am in direct communication with the ground when barefoot. I find it very energizing and helpful in focusing on work, or on “active” meditation. People should all walk barefoot as a first choice and also wear a lot less protective clothing. As a species, mankind is pushing itself further and further away from the earth, hence why it can’t see the damage its technology is doing – it cannot sense it. (I use “it” deliberately as a neutral pronoun.)

    1. I love the way you explain things Sha’Tara. Your perspective is enlightening. You are right, some pain is good, and i guess one of the very few good things that we hope won’t last. Mediation is one way of communing with nature and oourselves to get rid of the pebbles in our mind and soul or at least to accept that they are meant to serve their purpose.
